Introducing Catherine Maher
Catherine Maher graduated from Grove City College in 2025 with a degree in Communication Arts. During her time at Grove City, Maher engaged in various resources offered by the Center for E+I, which have helped launch her into her professional career path.
In the fall semester of her senior year, Maher participated in the E+I Fellows Program. She completed an internship with The Pittsburgh Project—a Christian nonprofit community organization serving the youth of the Pittsburgh area. Maher created promotional videos highlighting The Pittsburgh Project’s work and mission. Through this work, Maher was able to sharpen her communication and videography skills while sharing her passion for The Pittsburgh Project’s mission.
In the following spring semester, Maher was employed as a videographer for the Center for E+I, where she filmed B-roll content at events and helped capture moments that showcased the programs and the community around them.
Career and Opportunities Post-Graduation

After graduating, Maher landed a position with the Pittsburgh Fellows, where she has been placed with the Veteran’s Breakfast Club. Her role includes filming b-roll at events, conducting interviews with veterans, and producing recap videos that engage attendees and donors while extending the impact of events online. She also manages and publishes video content on YouTube and helps build a searchable digital archive of veterans’ stories in Forever—improving long-term access for families, researchers, and supporters. She said, “It has been an honor to witness firsthand veterans’ stories and be a part of helping tell them.”
In addition to getting to use her talents in her new career, Maher has had another exciting opportunity to pursue her passion for videography and storytelling. In fall of 2025, Maher had the honor of having one of her films, Found Self, selected as a Top 3 finalist in the Institute for the International Education for Students (IES) Film Festival. She said, “Through that experience, I had the opportunity to travel to Vienna, Austria to screen my film, speak on a panel, and be featured as a guest on their podcast.”
Looking ahead, Maher said, “As my time with the Pittsburgh Fellows program comes to an end, I’m beginning to explore opportunities with production companies in Pittsburgh or possibly doing video work abroad. Wherever I go, my goal is to tell meaningful stories and help connect people.”
How the Center for E+I Shaped Maher’s Career
Maher said that her experience with the Center for E+I greatly helped to prepare her for her position with the Pittsburgh Fellows Program by giving her opportunities to apply her skills in real, professional settings. Through the E+I Fellows Program and her internship, she was able to gain hands-on experience, build confidence in her abilities, and learn how to interact professionally with organizations and clients. She said, “It also gave me the chance to use my video skills to support the mission of organizations like The Pittsburgh Project, which helped me see how storytelling and media can make a meaningful impact.”

Maher’s Advice for Current Grove City Students
When asked if Maher had any words of wisdom for the current Grove City students, she said, “My advice would be to take advantage of the resources the Center for E+I offers, no matter your major. There are so many opportunities to gain practical experience and connect with people doing meaningful work. Even something as simple as attending the E+I Fellows preview night can be a great way to network, learn about different opportunities, and see how your skills might apply in real-world settings.”
